OCAA Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to Kyle Donnan and Mandi Buma who have both recently been recongnized as OCAA Athletes of the weeks. Donnan - a prominent member of the men's volleyball team - has been an unstoppable force in recent games. His team's record is an impressive 11-3, putting them in the running for a bye into provincial championships.

Buma is a 4th year veteran of the women's volleyball team and is making waves of her own. She currently holds the title for most career aces, and is quickly approaching her own record. She recently racked up 22 aces in only 2 games, helping her team to their 10-5 record.

Be sure to catch all the volleyball action this week when the teams take on the Algonquin Thunder Friday night, and La Cite Coyotes Saturday (1:00pm & 3:00 pm).

The men's basketball team hits the court following the volleyball double header Saturday, when they face the Cambrian Golden Shield at 6:00.

The Lancer’s women’s soccer team finished their season 1-8-2 after battling some of the best teams in Ontario all season.

The Lancer Cross Country team went to great lengths to make it to the OCAA Championships in Windsor in October. The team fought against cold temperatures, strong winds and rain before finishing the meet.

Getting Ready for 2010...

The 4 remaining Lancer teams are looking to kick off the new year by getting an early start over the Christmas break. The men’s basketball team travelled to Ottawa to the Algonquin Thunder Tournament and the women travelled to Kingston for a 3 day tournament before getting back into the regular season. Heading into 2010, the men are ranked 10th in the OCAA east division, and the women are 7th.

Both volleyball teams travelled to London to take on the Fanshawe Falcons and the Redeemer Royals in exhibition play. The women’s team also took part in the annual Durham College Adidas Cup. The Lady Lancers begin the 2nd half of their season tied for 5th place with the Seneca Sting, while the men are tied for 2nd with Durham and Algonquin.
