In The Zone with Tyler Brown

Throughout the school year we will be featuring profiles of student athletes from all of our varsity teams. Make sure to check back and see who makes the cut each week!

Name: Tyler Brown

Birthday: Sept. 20 1987

Hometown: Wellington

High School: P.E.C.I

Sport: Cross Country

Program: General Arts & Science

Career Hi-light :

Being ranked 237 in Canada in the 20-29 age group for Half-Marathon time.

Best Lancer moment:

Going to Nationals for Cross Country in 2 of the 4 years I have ran for the Lancers

Hardest part of being a student-athlete & how you handle it?

Finding time for training, school and friends. Time management is key, staying organized and on top of school work opens up more time for friends and training

Favourite thing about being a Lancer:

Being recognized as a student athlete not only around the school but also in the community and everyone giving you their best wishes for upcoming events.

Pre-competition routine:

Burger King French Toast sticks for breakfast. When I get to the course I do a walk through of the course to get a feel for the trail. Then begin warming up and stretching prior to race.

Pre-competition playlist:

Al Pacino – Peace in Inches Speech (Any Given Sunday)

Advice to potential student athletes:

“I run a race not to see who is the fastest but to see who has the most guts” – Steve Prefontaine
Give 100% effort all the time even if you are not the best in the field.
